The exploration and use of space confined to our solar system depend on the launching of satellites, space stations, interplanetary spacecraft and rockets into orbit. However, this has generated and  continues to generate an environmental impact on circumterrestrial space

The biggest problem is that restoring circumterrestrial space close to its original conditions is very difficult and expensive with present-day technology.

The responsibility for maintenance and monitoring of the Register of Italian space objects lies with the Italian Space Agency.

The updated Register can be accessed here.

Before the space age began (1957), only deep-space micrometeorites populated outer space
