A body operating in the field of technical standardization, located in Milan and founded in 1921

UNI is the Italian National Unification Body, which performs activities in all business, commercial, and services sectors and participates, on behalf of Italy, to the legislative activity of the international standardization bodies, such as the ISO.

UNI is a non-profit association located in Milan.

Its purpose is to carry out standardization activities, that is studying, developing, approving, publishing and making available voluntary application documents – standards, technical specifications, technical reports and reference practices – in order to coordinate the efforts for the improvement and standardization of products, services, persons and organizations, with the goal of simplifying planning, production and distribution, by guaranteeing safe and quality performance, respect for the environment and protection of consumers and workers, in all economic, production and social sectors.
