Fostering Regional Synergy in Space for Shared Challenges and Sustainable Development

26 November 2025

On 4 December 2025, in Manila, Philippines, Ministers, Authorities for Space, representatives of space agencies from Southeast Asia, and other invited entities from the broader Asian continent and beyond gathered in Manila (Philippines).

Following the first International Space Forum in Trento (Italy) and the subsequent regional Chapters focusing on the African region (Nairobi, 2017), the Latin American region (Buenos Aires, 2018), the Mediterranean region (Reggio Calabria, 2019), the Central American and Caribbean region (Panama City, 2023), and the Gulf region (Manama, 2024), this 7th edition in Southeast Asia facilitated open and productive discussions involving all potential players, including Academia and Universities, to discuss how to strengthen regional cooperation in space while addressing shared challenges and promoting sustainable development in one of the world’s most dynamic and rapidly evolving regions.

Ministers, Authorities, Heads of space agencies, and all distinguished delegates attending the 7th International Space Forum – The Southeast Asia Chapter – pursued the following objectives:

  • Build regional space infrastructure and capabilities through collaborative missions and coordinated space technology development to address critical infrastructure needs.

  • Develop integrated Earth observation services and connectivity solutions to tackle common regional challenges, including disaster management, agricultural monitoring, maritime security, environmental protection, and infrastructure development monitoring across the diverse Southeast Asian landscape, with special attention to archipelagic and coastal nation needs.

  • Strength regional cooperation frameworks, harmonizing space policies, enhancing educational exchange programs, and fostering research and development partnerships to build a sustainable space ecosystem.
