The image of the Richat structure, also called the Eye of the Sahara, or Guelb er Richat, has been taken by the PRISMA satellite of the Italian Space Agency on May 10, 2021.

The peculiar structure is in Mauritania, near Oudane, with a diameter of about 40 km, and according to recent studies, corresponds to concentric rings due to erosion on a volcanic dome. The image is an elaboration of the PRISMA VNIR channel.
