Corporate structure

The Italian Aerospace Research Centre (CIRA - Centro Italiano di Ricerche Aerospaziali) is a joint-stock consortium company, established in 1984, and currently with majority public shareholdings. Since 1998, the State, through the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the National Research Council (CNR), has held the majority of the share capital, in which the Campania Regional Authority and the main Italian Aeorospace Companies are also shareholders. The Italian Space Agency, along with other Public Bodies controlled or supervised by State Administrations pursuant to Ministerial Decree Regulation dated 10 June 1998, no. 305, has appointed three members of the Board of Directors, among whom the President.

Corporate purpose/mission

CIRA S.c.p.A. has the task of implementing the PRORA - PROgramma nazionale di Ricerche Aerospaziali (National Aerospace Research Programme), a government measure, developed consistently with the National Research Programme (PNR - Programma Nazionale della Ricerca), through the Strategic Vision Document and based on the requirements expressed by the world of Industry and Research.

The net operating profit goes to the reserve fund called “Fondo reinvestimento ambito PRORA” (PRORA area reinvestment fund), as envisaged by the Company Statute.

Legal status: Joint-stock Consortium Company with a majority of public shareholders.

Share capital: € 985,223.75

ASI shareholding: 47.182%
