In the framework of the Italy-Kenya intergovernmental agreement for the Luigi Broglio Space Centre in Malindi and under the Education and Training implementing arrangement, the Italian Space Agency (ASI), in collaboration with the Kenyan Space Agency (KSA), is pleased to announce the launch of a CUBESAT training course. This two-week program will run from October 28 to November 8, 2024, and will focus on the design and development of CubeSats.

The course will feature expert-led sessions from the Italian Space Agency (Alberto Fedele e Giuseppe Leccese) and professors from Sapienza University of Rome (Paolo Marzioli e Lorenzo Frezza.), offering participants a comprehensive mix of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. The total number of participants is 30 students, organized into six teams from various Kenyan universities (Kirinyaga University, Multimedia University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture And Technology, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Technical University of Kenya, University of Eastern Africa-Baraton, Kenyatta University, University of Nairobi), alongside KSA technical staff.

This training is part of a broader series of initiatives developed in collaboration with KSA to equip Kenyan engineers with essential CubeSat development skills, thereby strengthening Kenya's technical capabilities in space science and technology. ASI and KSA representatives, Engineer Munzer Jahjah and Charles Mwangi, respectively, are overseeing the initiative.

The collaboration extends from training to long-term objectives, including establishing a CubeSat development centre and advancing Kenyan space-related education and technical infrastructure, crucial steps towards BSC's goal of becoming a regional space hub.
