The images shown on this page are elaborations of the visible and infrared bands of an acquisition over Greenland in May 2021 by the PRISMA satellite.  The area acquired by the hyperspectral satellite is located in the northwest region of the island, near the Hall Basin. Although part of the North American continent, the island of Greenland belongs to the kingdom of Denmark and is almost completely covered by perennial ice caps. However, their thickness, even in inland areas, is decreasing due to human emissions and rising temperatures.
