The space showcase par excellence takes place in Paris from September 18th to September 22nd, 2022, and precedes the next European edition, which will take place in Italy with IAC Milan 2024, organized by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and hosted by the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIDAA), the ASI and Leonardo

16 September 2022

An annual appointment that can’t be missed by any protagonist of the space sector. It’s the IAC, the International Astronautical Congress, that this year takes place in the French capital. Also the Italian Space Agency (ASI) will attend this appointment, and the senior management, with the president Giorgio Saccoccia, will be involved in several bilateral meetings with other Agencies. The ASI’s exhibition booth, an exhibition area of over 100 square meters, will host several of these meetings with the NASA, the Canadian agency CSA, the German agency DLR, the Argentinian agency CONAE and the Israeli agency ISA, just to mention a few.

The congress programme is also large and draws inspiration from the “Space4AII” general topic, which will be addressed during plenary events and technical sessions that will be attended by the ASI, which will contribute with experiences and results of researches and programmes.

The IAC is a specialized congress with alternating editions, one year in Europe and one year in the rest of the world. The Parisian edition precedes the next European edition, number 75, which will take place in Milan in 2024. For IAC Milan 24, which is scheduled from October 14th to October 18th, 2024, Italy is preparing to be at the centre of the international debate on the use of Space to support sustainability. The local organizing committee, of which the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIDAA), the Italian Space Agency and Leonardo are part, will be in Paris with its own exhibition space.

Furthermore, the appointment in Paris will also be the occasion for the official presentation of the next edition of the NSE, the New Space Economy Expo-Forum, which this year will be in presence again, from December 1st to 3rd. The event, organized by Fondazione E.Amaldi and Fiera Roma and sponsored by the ASI, is dedicated to the potential of economy coming from investments in the space sector and proposes space as an enabling tool to create innovative applications and services for citizens.

The ASI, in its capacity of national coordination body for the whole industrial chain of the Italian aerospace sector, hosts at its exhibition booth both institutions, such as the Ministry of Education, University and Research, and category associations and the main companies in sector, with which it works to put in place national and international programmes. Investee companies and industries, as well as institutions and category associations, participate in the ASI’s exhibition booth by showing information material on the projects put in place in partnership with the ASI and exhibition models which represent programmes and projects.
