ASI Headquarters - Roma, 6th November 2026
ASI supports and funds the ESA C-STS (Commercial Space Transportation Systems) - BOOST! Programme, which aims to promote commercial initiatives offering space transportation services—covering access to space, in-space transportation, and return from space. Furthermore, the Programme assists Member States in achieving national objectives related to spaceports, testing facilities, and more. Finally, within the framework of BOOST!, the "European flight ticket" initiative—implemented in collaboration with the European Commission—supports the procurement of launch services for In-Orbit Demonstration/In-Orbit Validation (IOD/IOV) missions.
In order to fulfil those goals, the Programme is structured into three elements:
- BOOST! 1: Commercial Space Transportation Services Element
Provides flexible, tailored support to European economic operators who are promoting private-led development of new, commercially sustainable, space transportation services.
- BOOST! 2: Support to Participating States Element
Offers assistance to Member States—upon their request—in implementing national objectives within the space transportation sector, with a particular focus on spaceport infrastructure and related services.
- BOOST! 3: Procurement of Space Transportation Services Element
Provides co-financing for missions aimed at the in-orbit demonstration and qualification of technologies or subsystems—carried aboard flight-ready satellites (IOD/IOV)—through the competitive procurement of European launch services.
Consequently, the BOOST! portfolio of activities includes:
- Launch services for small satellites
- In-orbit deployment services; in-orbit transportation and maintenance
- Re-entry capabilities from orbit
- Support for national spaceport services
- Procurement of space transportation services
Italy participates in the Programme since its first implementation at CM19 and in particular in BOOST!1 and BOOST!3 elements.
Given the new subscriptions made by Italy at the 2025 ESA Ministerial Conference, the workshop aims to present the core components of the program, highlighting opportunities for the Italian industrial supply chain and covering:
- Eligibility criteria for participation in the program;
- Types of activities eligible for co-funding through BOOST!1;
- Co-funding rules;
- The two-phase tender process: submission of an Outline Service Proposal followed by a Full Service Proposal;
- The requirement for a Letter of Support from the Italian Delegation represented by ASI
Registraton
The workshop will be held in a hybrid format—in person at the ASI headquarters and remotely via the MS Teams platform.
The workshop will be conducted in English and will include the participation of the ESA team manging BOOST! Programme.
Participation is free of charge, subject to registration via the following link. Please read the privacy policy at this link.
For further information, please contact C-STS_BOOST@asi.it
The final program will be available for download at the following link.
The first part of the workshop will consist in a presentation of the BOOST! Programme made by the ESA Executive, followed by a second session dedicated to bilateral meetings - upon request by economic operators - with the Italian Delegation and the ESA Executive. It will be also possible to conduct B2B meetings. Requests for bilateral meetings with ESA/ASI and for B2B meetings must be submitted during the registration process to allow for the scheduling of specific time slots (approximately 20 minutes per slot).
The final Programme will be determined based on the requests received by 1st November 2026.
