This composition is obtained over the Namib Desert, near the Skeleton Coast National Park in October 2020. The image on the left is obtained from visible bands, while the one on the right is from shortwave infrared. This desert is one of the oldest and driest in the world and extends for approximately 2000 kilometers along the Atlantic coast of southern Africa. This area is particularly remote and difficult for navigation due to strong currents. In this acquisition the coastal waters are partially covered by clouds which however do not reach the coastal dunes. PRISMA uses the Gobabeb site in Namibia for calibration.
