{"id":36541,"date":"2022-11-19T12:00:57","date_gmt":"2022-11-19T11:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/?p=36541"},"modified":"2022-11-19T12:58:53","modified_gmt":"2022-11-19T11:58:53","slug":"artemis-1-argomoon-captured-photos-of-the-earth-and-moon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/en\/2022\/11\/artemis-1-argomoon-captured-photos-of-the-earth-and-moon\/","title":{"rendered":"Artemis 1: ArgoMoon captured photos of the Earth and Moon"},"content":{"rendered":"NASA’s Artemis 1 mission, carrying ArgoMoon, the satellite of the Italian Space Agency, developed and operated by Argotec, took off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre on 16 November 2022\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nArgoMoon was deployed from the second stage of SLS (Space Launch System) Argotec\u2019s engineers captured the signal a few minutes later, taking control of communication with the satellite.\r\n\r\nThe Flight Control Team required more time to finalize the early operations phase of the mission due to complex manoeuvres after the deployment.\r\n\r\nBy late evening of Wednesday, November the 16th, the satellite was in a stable condition and, the following day, at 00:15:00 AM CET ArgoMoon had already captured a photo of the Earth in order to calibrate the payloads.\r\n\r\nOn November, 17, 2022 at 11:55:10 AM CET, ArgoMoon also took a photo of the Moon.\r\n\r\nA few hours later the Flight Control Team was able to download the photos.\r\n\r\nArgoMoon acquired two incredible pictures of our planet Earth, at a distance of about 125,000 kilometres, and the Moon, at 278,500 kilometres.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
