This image is based on an elaboration of the L2D data for an acquisition of the Suez Canal<\/strong> (Egypt) in July 2020.<\/p>\r\n

The channel connects the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, and it was opened in 1869 under French control to offer a direct route between the Indian and the Atlantic Oceans. In 2021 it was blocked for six days by a grounded container ship.<\/p>\r\n

The area in the upper portion of the image is located near the city of Port Said and features the Mediterranean terminus of the channel.
