{"id":29954,"date":"2022-03-25T15:49:24","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T14:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/?p=29954"},"modified":"2022-04-08T11:04:25","modified_gmt":"2022-04-08T09:04:25","slug":"the-colors-of-palermo-in-winter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/en\/2022\/03\/the-colors-of-palermo-in-winter\/","title":{"rendered":"The colors of Palermo in winter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The images <span lang=\"EN-US\">depict the area surrounding Palermo (Sicily) in February 2022, as imaged by the PRISMA hyperspectral satellite of ASI<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The following images are based on an L2D product and depict the area surrounding Palermo (Sicily) in February 2022, as imaged by the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/en\/earth-science\/prisma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong> PRISMA<\/strong><\/a> hyperspectral satellite of ASI.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The leftmost image is for a band in the visible part of the spectrum (near the red) and it clearly shows the port of Palermo, one of the major passenger ports in the Mediterranean, and the hills enclosing the main urban complex.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The rightmost image is instead for a band in the shortwave infrared, and as such it is more sensitive to the presence of high and thin clouds obscuring the ground.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The attached animation shows the sequence of all the PRISMA bands, from the visible to the shortwave infrared, where the brightness is proportional to the intensity of the sensed radiation.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/anim_palermo.gif\" \/>\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/PRS_palermo_comb.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"><i>Download the full frame image in jpg<\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/a>\r\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Data\/Information generated by F.
