The image of the Richat structure, also called the Eye of the Sahara, or Guelb er Richat, has been taken by the PRISMA<\/strong><\/a> satellite of the Italian Space Agency on May 10, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The peculiar structure is in Mauritania, near Oudane, with a diameter of about 40 km, and according to recent studies, corresponds to concentric rings due to erosion on a volcanic dome. The image is an elaboration of the PRISMA VNIR channel.<\/span><\/p>\r\n
