{"id":17927,"date":"2020-06-23T18:35:57","date_gmt":"2020-06-23T16:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/?p=17927"},"modified":"2020-06-26T09:44:03","modified_gmt":"2020-06-26T07:44:03","slug":"alberto-tuozzi-is-the-new-interim-president-of-the-gsa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asi.it\/en\/2020\/06\/alberto-tuozzi-is-the-new-interim-president-of-the-gsa\/","title":{"rendered":"ALBERTO TUOZZI IS THE NEW INTERIM PRESIDENT OF THE GSA"},"content":{"rendered":"Alberto Tuozzi will hold the interim presidency of the GSA (European GSS Agency), the European Union Agency for the satellite navigation programmes, which is responsible for managing the Galileo and EGNOS navigation systems.\r\n\r\n<!--more-->\r\n\r\nStarting from June 23<sup>rd<\/sup>, <strong>Alberto Tuozzi<\/strong>, Head of the Telecommunications and Satellite Navigation unit of the ASI, will take up the new post along with his current mandate as vice-president, expiring in 2022. Its interim role, unanimously approved by the recent Administrative Board, will be operational until the next leadership elections, which will be held in 2021; the purpose of the role is to manage the important<strong> transition stage from the GSA to the EUSPA<\/strong> \u2013 European Space Programme Agency.\r\n\r\nUnlike the GSA, the EUSPA will be responsible for \u201cmanaging\u201d not only the European Union\u2019s Satellite navigation programmes, but also the Earth observation and Telecommunications programmes. During its interim presidency, Alberto Tuozzi will have, amongst others, the sensitive task to manage the choice of the new Executive Director of the Agency by the Administrative Board.\r\n\r\n\u201cA <strong>prestigious assignment for Italy<\/strong>, which has been given the sensitive task to lead the transition from the GSA to the EUSPA \u2013 the European Union Agency which will play a key role in the European space activities.
