International Space Forum at Nairobi

On February 13 in Nairobi, Kenya, will be the second edition of the International Space Forum - The African Chapter for open and productive discussions on how Space Science and Education can support the understanding and exploitation of Space benefits for Africa’s socio-economic development.

On February 13th, 2018, Nairobi (Kenya) will host the 2nd International Space Forum (ISF) at Ministerial Level - The African Chapter.

 

The 1st International Space Forum at Ministerial level took place in Trento and involved 42 countries at global level. Space Science and Academy for Global Challenges was the topic.

 

For this second edition the Forum has been characterized for the African Region: Space Science and Academia for Sustainable Development in Africa.

 

Ministries of Science, University and Research, Space Authorities, Space Agencies, representatives from International Space Organizations and senior space experts will meet under the auspices of the International Astronautical Federation, the Italian Space Agency and the Kenyan Ministry of Defence, for open and productive discussions on how Space Science and Education can support the understanding and exploitation of Space benefits for Africa’s socio-economic development. At the Forum will be attend 29 delegations from African countries and 14 from NaTional and International Space Agencies.

 

Capacity Building, Environmental Sustainability and Space Partnerships will be the topics of Nairobi International Space Forum. The Forum will adopt a statement that will summarize the main results of the discussions and provide recommendations to the African space community on how to develop local capacities, abilities and space partnerships, for a sustainable and harmonious development of the African countries.

 

The 2nd International Space Forum in Nairobi wants to contribute to UNISPACE+50 and to the implementation of the goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030 for the sustainable development.
