Giorgio Saccoccia is the new ASI's President

Giorgio Saccocia took up office as ASI's new President yesterday during the first Board of Directors meeting

Giorgio Saccocia took up office as ASI's new President yesterday during the first Board of Directors meeting. 

"Space is experiencing a time of amazing opportunities and it is performing a growing role in everybody's life - the new President said in a message sent to all the ASI employees - Everyone has the opportunity to give a personal contribution in this challenge. I am really proud of this and sure that my feeling is shared by you all, during your working activities". 

Giorgio Saccoccia was born on Jan. 11th 1963 in Belluno. He graduated in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Pisa and holds a Master in Business Administration, obtained at the Webster University (The Netherlands). 

He has performed his duties as: Head of the Electric Propulsion Section, ESA, from Mar. 1997 to Jan. 2003; Head of the Propulsion and Aerothermodynamics Division, ESA, from Jan. 2003 until now; Acting Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, ESA, from Jan, 2016 to Nov 2016. 

Mr. Saccoccia is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA (American Institute for Aeronautics and Astronautics), a Full Member of the IAA (International Academy of Astronautics) and an Emeritus Member of the 3AF (French Aeronautics and Astronautics Association).
