Rosetta exhibition

Padua, from 14 October to 14 November 2014

Rosetta spacecraft and its mission and planetary exploration are the main themes for “Into orbit! Rosetta comet chaser… and other stories”, an exhibition which will be held in Padua, at the “Sala della Gran Guardia”, from 14 October to 14 November 2014. The initiative has been conceived to celebrate the landing of Philae (Rosetta’s lander), scheduled for 11 November 2014.

The exhibition will be focused on the Rosetta mission and on the most famous comets in history. It will consists of display panels and scale models and will be open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday.

An opening conference, dedicated to the scientist Bepi Colombo, will be held in Padua at the “Accademia Galileiana” on 14 October. The event is organized by the Italian Space Agency, the Center for Studies and Activities for Space (CISAS), the National Institute for Astrophysics-Padua Observatory and the University of Padua.

Conference speakers are Maurice Bonnet (ISSI Director), Charles Elachi (NASA-JPL Director), Maurizio Cheli (astronaut), Enrico Flamini (ASI Chief Scientist), Francesco Angrilli (University of Padua – Emeritus professor) and Cesare Barbieri (former Astronomy professor at the University of Padua). The panel will be chaired by the journalist Giovanni Caprara.
