15 years of activity and great successes achieved since the launch of the first SAR satellite of the Italian constellation of  Earth observation that will be celebrated by ASI  providing free use of data for the Italian institutional user and cost reduction for the Institutional international user

What a year 2022 has been so far for the COSMO-SkyMed Earth observation constellation! In 2022 the constellation celebrates 15 years  of activity and the placing in orbit of the second satellite of the second generation  has brought to six the total number of its satellites in operation.

On the occasion of this anniversary and these important achievements, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) has decided to revise of the costs of COSMO-SkyMed products towards the Institutional users, by making free all the products both of archive and of new acquisitions for the Italian Institutional community and decreasing the cost of COSMO-SkyMed products towards the non national Institutional Community, according to the table below. For commercial purpose, national and international users can access the system through the Commercial Dealer e-Geos, a ASI-Telespazio company.

Born from the collaboration between the Italian Space Agency and the Ministry of Defence, with the contribution of the Ministry of University and Research, the constellation is the first in the world for dual use. It represents the most ambitious satellite Earth observation program that has ever been realized by Italy, one-of-a-kind system also in the number of satellites.

In these 15 years of operations, the constellation has acquired from Space more than 2,000,000 images of our planet.
