Science Festival

Agrigento (Sicily), 4 - 10 August

Agrigento Temple Valley will host, from 4 to 10 August 2015, the second edition of the Science Festival

The renowned archaeological site will be the stage for a wide range of outreach activities, such as conferences, laboratories, entertainment activities for kids, exhibitions and astronomical observations. 

The Festival's aim is to reach a large audience and to familiarise themselves with science and innovation

The Italian Space Agency will take part in the Festival, which is promoted by the "Notte con le Stelle" Association in cooperation with the FARM - Favara Cultural Park. 

The Rosetta mission and Philae's historic landing on the 67P Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet will be the main themes for an exhibition, organized by ASI, that will be held in two venues: at the FARM, in Favara (Rosetta display panels), and at the Juno Temple - Temple Valley (Rosetta and Dawn display panels - Rosetta, Philae and Dawn scale models).

ASI will also be represented by Enrico Flamini, Chief Scientist. Flamini will give a speech during the conference "Rosetta mission's long challenge", scheduled for 7 August, at 9.00 p.m.

An opening event will take place on 2 August at the FARM, at 7.00 p.m.

Audience can visit the exhibition at the FARM, for free, from 3 to 9 August. Opening times: 12 p.m. - 11 p.m. The exhibition at the Juno Temple is opened from 4 to 9 August, 4.30 p.m. - 12.00 a.m. Entrance ticket: € 4,00 (daily events included).

The closing soiree will be attended by the astronaut Paolo Nespoli
