“Mars - Close encounters with the Red Planet”

Exhibition in Rome from 16 December 2016 to 28 February 2017

Mars, the 'star' of  many exploration missions - such as ExoMars - is the 'main character' of an exhibition sponsored by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (MIBACT) in collaboration with the European Space Agency, INAF, Leonardo, Thales Alenia Space Italia and National Geographic.

“Mars - Close encounters with the Red Planet” is the title of the exhibition that is underway in Rome, from 16 December 2016 to 28 February 2017, at the Aula Ottagona - Museo Nazionale Romano - Terme di Diocleziano (Via Giuseppe Romita 8, Roma). The entrance is for free

The exhibition intends to recount to the general public the history of Mars exploration and the important Italian contributions in this adventure. After a reference to the mythological figure of the god Mars, an introduction dedicated to the early observations of the canals by Giovanni Schiaparelli, the exhibition journey goes on to illustrate the current state of knowledge we have on Mars via the data and images provided by the most advanced space technology.

Exhibition opening hours: Tuesady-Friday, from 9.30 am to 3 pm - Saturday and Sunday, from 2.30 pm to 7.00 pm. Closed on Mondays.
