AGILE and the Galileo telescope in two postage stamps

The official presentation on May 7 in Padova

Two postage stamps, valued 60 and 65 Eurocent, dedicated to astronomy and Galileo Galilei, will celebrate the International Year of Astronomy and the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s first telescope observations.
The 60 Eurocent stamp pictures the “Galileo” observatory of the National Astrophysics Institute, placed on the Canary Islands.

The second stamp has a face value of 65 cents and presents the Earth and the ASI“Agile” satellite, launched on April 23, 2007.

The series will be circulated starting from April 7, and will be presented in Padova, where Galleo lived and worked.
