Blue Economy conference

Bari, 20-21 November 2014

The Bari Chamber of Commerce will host on 20 and 21 November 2014 the conference “Blue Economy and geoinformation services for sustainable growth in coastal regions”. The conference aim is to bring together Local and Regional authorities in Europe with special reference to Blue Economy.

“Blue Economy” defines a kind of economy related to coastal regions and marine environment. They are drivers of European growth because this field represents over 5 million jobs and a gross added value of just under €500 billion per year.

The development of tools to facilitate and optimize Blue Economy activities management and control is the main conference theme. The event, hosted by the Apulia Region and promoted by Eurisy and the Conference of Peripherical and Maritime Regions of Europe (CPRM), is organized under the patronage of the 2014 Italian Presidency of the European Union Council. The Italian Space Agency is among the cooperation bodies.

The ASI President Roberto Battiston is expected to participate in the conference opening session, which will be held on 20 November, by giving a speech about “Satellite applications as operational and innovative tools to meet needs of regional bodies”.
